It's not often, but occasionally I'll assist another wedding photographer by acting as a second shooter during a wedding. This position allows me to be a little more creative, as the pressure is usually off when it comes to getting "the" shot. For example, if I feel like climbing a tree to get the perfect fall-colored branch to use in a shot, I can (much to the delight of wedding party) do exactly that.
Lo and Andy's wedding in Leicester MA was possibly my favorite second-shooting experience. Not just because it was a lovely wedding on a beautiful fall day, or because I'm really happy with my shots from the event, but because it was a true pleasure to work with such a wonderful couple. Although they had never met me prior to their wedding ceremony, both Lo and Andy made me feel like a welcomed part of their special day. As a wedding photographer, it's a great feeling to connect with a couple and not just feel like "the help". Here are a few of my favorite shots as a second shooter that day.
